Biodynamic
Agriculture
Biodynamic agriculture was developed from
a set of lectures given by the Austrian philosopher, Rudolf
Steiner in 1924.
Biodynamics is a method of organic agriculture
with three key principles:
- The farm is a sustainable ecosystem
in itself,
- The use of biodynamic preparations
enhance biological activities in the compost and soil,
- The dynamic forces of the sun, moon,
planets and constellation’s on the plants nourishes humans
physically, spiritually and emotionally.
Biodynamic produce such as: fruit, vegetables,
grains, dairy products and wine are available in many parts
of the world. The quality standard most commonly used to certify
Biodynamic growers is named Demeter. Research shows that biodynamic
produce: keeps fresh longer, tastes better and has greater
vitality.
The Biodynamic method of agriculture can
also be used by home gardeners who have a strong desire to
care for the earth and produce high quality food. It is inexpensive
to use, but requires a commitment from the grower to learn.
There are many books and workshops available
